Frequently Asked Questions

At what age should I take my child to an orthodontist?

The American Dental Association recommends children be seen by an orthodontist when their permanent teeth start coming in, which usually happens around the age of 7. This way, an orthodontist can monitor your child’s growth and development. By examining their teeth and jaw, our expert orthodontic team can determine if they would benefit from interceptive treatment.

How do I tell if my child needs braces?

There are plenty of indicators that your child could potentially need braces, including having crooked, overlapped, or overly crowded teeth, losing baby teeth too soon, or having issues with their bite. Identifying these can be tough for parents, which is why we recommend orthodontic visits every six months as soon as your child turns 7 years old.

What is the cost of orthodontic treatment?

The cost of orthodontic treatment varies from patient to patient—depending on their needs. However, treatment is often covered under dental insurance. At Davis & Nyczepir Orthodontics, we believe that cost should not be a barrier to a healthy smile, so we are more than willing to discuss payment and financing options that work for you. Book a complimentary consultation today to explore these options with us!

What is a true orthodontic emergency?

True orthodontic emercencies are rare, but you might still encounter them from time to time. This might include any severe inury/trauma to the face or severe pain/discomfort. If this happens, call our office to schedule an appointment.
